Introduction:

As part of this week’s electronics club meeting at Ashesi University, one of our Staff Nicholas Tali challenged us to come up with a new product that can solve a problem of our choice using any of the following components:

  • GSM Module (SIM800L)
  • Buck convertor
  • ATmega328p Microcontroller
  • 9V battery
  • Two sensors of our choice
  • A relay module
  • A few other discrete components that he will provide us free of charge.

I decided to monitor the concentration of CO2 in the Biogas plant and the level of water in the storage section of the biogas plant. When the CO2 concentration at the final section is above a certain threshold the first pump will pump the water back to the initial part to be reprocessed. When the level of water in the final part is high, this project also turns on another pump to pump the water away. This project also allows both pumps to be controlled from the internet.
